The cards are dealt randomly? How can I be sure?
PrimePoker.com uses Sun Microsystem's SecureRandom function for Java. The implementation of a random number generator shuffle has been designed by a PhD accredited Mathematician. After three months of through testing his report revealed the following:
There was no statistical bias in cards dealt as pocket cards.
- There was no statistical bias in cards dealt to any of the board positions.
- There were no statistical differences in the cards dealt to games involving experienced players and the cards dealt to games involving new players.
During the research dealt hands were thoroughly analysed and particular auditing was carried out to the most detailed undertaken of any online poker site to date. We can conclusively state with pride and confidence that our cards are dealt completely randomly and without bias.
Integrity and Fairness | General Enquiries | Top of page
Can players determine which cards they will be dealt?
No, players can't know their cards or have any influence over the cards you receive. Cards about to be dealt are not determined until the very second before they are dealt, so there is no way to know them in advance (in our case they don't even "exist" in-advance). Our server only sends out information on a need-to-know basis, which means that there is no way to predict any of the cards coming your way or going to other players. All information sent out is also heavily encrypted for further security.
Integrity and Fairness | General Enquiries | Top of page
Do your cards favour certain players?
As you compete against other players and not the house, we have nothing to gain from unfair deals! There is no reason for us to favour a particular player, card dealing at PrimePoker.com has been thoroughly scrutinized and proven to be completely random.
Integrity and Fairness | General Enquiries | Top of page
How old do you have to be to legally play on PrimePoker.com?

Some countries however have different laws around the world and higher age limits may apply to you locally. Please consult our Terms of Service for more information.

If I am subjected to abuse by another player? What can I do?
You can select "mute" by clicking on his/her icon on the table. This filters out whatever the player types in the table chat so you can't see their comments.
If a player is particularly offensive, you can report them to us here at Support and we will take the appropriate action. If a particularly abusive player is causing too much trouble in a play money ring game table then the players at the table can choose to vote the abuser off the table.

What are abusive votes?
A player who receives 60-70% of abusive votes or more from the rest of the players at the table will be removed. You can cast a vote by clicking on the offending player's character and selecting "vote off table". To prevent this function from being abused, each player is only allowed to cast three votes within a day. This applies to players in play-money ring games, letting players police the tables themselves when they feel there is a need to do so.

Poker Tournaments: Multi-table Tournaments
What types of tournaments are available at Prime Poker?
There are two basic types of tournaments available. Scheduled multi-table tournaments and sit and go tournaments.
In a scheduled multi-table tournament over 2000 players can contribute to the prize pool and compete until one player remains, winning the lion' share of the pot. These tournaments have scheduled start times listed in our weekly calendar.
In sit and go tournaments the game gets underway once the required number of players have joined the table. Sit and Go tournaments are available 24/7.
The most common tournament poker game is No Limit Texas Hold'em, but you'll also find Limit Texas Hold'em as well as Omaha and Seven Card Stud.
Multi-table Tournaments | Poker Tournaments | Top of page
How do I play a multi-table tournament?
You can register for multi-table tournament in the tournament lobby or, for some tournaments, in the weekly calendar.
Tournaments start at a scheduled time, for example 3 pm ET. All tournament players must be logged into the tournament game before the tournament starts to keep their place in the starting line. Ensure that you are on the tournament page at least 2 minutes before the start. When the tournament starts you are automatically seated at a table.
Multi-table Tournaments | Poker Tournaments | Top of page
How is it decided who is moved to a new table?
In multi-table tournaments we try to keep tables as full as possible by redistributing players. If necessary, the player moved to a new table is always the player not currently in either the Dealer, Small Blind or Big Blind positions that has been moved the fewest number of times so far. If there is more than one candidate, the player sitting the furthest from the Big Blind in a clockwise direction will be moved. We feel this is the fairest way to maintain full tables and is very similar to the system used in many major land based tournaments.
Multi-table Tournaments | Poker Tournaments | Top of page
How does a satellite differ from a sit and go tournament?
A satellite tournament is a means by which a player can play in a smaller buy-in tournament and win tickets for entry to a larger tournament. This way a player can get into high buy-in tournaments with a small initial outlay.
A Sit and Go tournament is a tournament that starts as soon as all the available places are full. Some Sit and Go tournaments are in fact satellites.
For a list of tournaments please go to the lobby and select the tournament page.

What are the rules of Texas Hold'em?
You can access a guide to the rules we use for Hold'em ring games by clicking here.
In Texas Hold'em, each player is given 2 pocket cards. The game continues with a total of 5 community cards dealt face up, first 3, then 1 after the other. Between each deal there is a round of betting. Players can use the community cards in conjunction with both, one or none of their pocket cards to make poker hands.
Each hand of Hold'em starts with the payment of two blinds (a bet before the pocket cards are received). The first two players after the dealer pay the blinds. The small blind is posted by the first player and the big blind by the second. In heads-up games, where only two players are competing, the player seated after the dealer pays the big blind.
Each Texas Hold'em Limit table has two limits displayed such as $2-$4, $5-$10 etc. The first two betting rounds are played with the lower limit being the minimum raise, while the last two rounds of betting are played with the higher limit as the minimum raise. There is no change in the minimum raise between betting rounds for Pot Limit and No Limit games.

What are the rules of Five Card Draw?
Five Card Draw is usually the first poker game that people learn. This is because it is very simple to pick up and quickly introduces players to key concepts such as betting and bluffing. It is also a game that requires a lot of skill to play well.
Five Card Draw is also known as a bluffer's and a reader's game. This is because nobody gets to see anybody else's cards until the showdown. In Five Card Draw, it is important to deceive your opponents by bluffing and frequently adjusting your playing style because your opponents will be trying to read all the 'tells' (clues) they can get from you to try and determine your hand. Your 'tells' could be related to how quickly you play, whether you speak or respond to taunts or how much and how often you bet. Because your opponents have to try to get inside your head to read your cards, Five Card Draw is considered a particularly psychological version of poker.
Here at Prime Poker.com we play pure Five Card Draw straight up without the use of wild cards or bugs. We use a standard 52 card deck and allow two to five players to sit at a table and play. We start games with blinds not antes and the blinds are considered live bets.
After the payment of blinds, each player is dealt five cards face down and the first round of betting takes place. With all bets made the remaining players then have the opportunity to discard some, none or all of their cards and Draw (in other words take new cards) in an attempt to improve their hand or deceive their opponents about the strength of their hand.
The Draw is followed by a second and final round of betting after which all the remaining players show their cards. The pot always goes to the best high hand.
Poker Basics | Poker Ring Games | Top of page
What are the rules of Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo
Omaha is a poker game derived from Texas Hold'em. Each player is dealt four cards ("hole cards"), which belong only to that player. Five community cards are dealt face-up on the "board". All players use three of the five community cards together with two of their hole cards to make the best five-card poker hand.
In Omaha Hi/Lo the player with the best five-card hand for high wins half the pot, and the player with the best hand for low wins the other half. In Omaha, players must use two and only two of their four hole cards in combination with three cards from the board. In the event of identical hands, the high and low shares of the pot will be equally divided between the players with the best hands. In the event that no hand qualifies for low, the best hand(s) for high wins the pot.
For a five card hand to qualify for low, it cannot include cards higher than 8 or contain any pairs. Aces can be used for both high and low. When comparing low hands, the winner is the hand with the lowest high card, thus 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 is better than Ace, 2, 3, 4, 8. The best possible low hand is Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Poker Basics | Poker Ring Games | Top of page
What are the rules of Seven Card Stud and Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo?
In Seven Card Stud, players are dealt seven cards throughout the course of the hand, but only the best five-card hand possible for each player is used to determine the winner.
Before a game of Seven Card Stud starts, all players ante a nominal amount. Each player is dealt two hidden hole cards and one exposed card. The player with the lowest exposed card is the "bring-in", and is forced to make a wager of either a half a small bet or a full small bet. Action continues clockwise around the table until betting is complete for the round.
In the unlikely event that all 8 players are still in the hand on the river, the total number of cards needed for all the players to receive their own card would not be available in a standard deck of cards. In this case the river card is dealt face up on the table and it will be used as a community card.
In Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo the player with the best five-card hand for high wins half the pot, and the player with the best hand for low wins the other half. In the event that no hand qualifies for low, the best hand(s) for high wins the pot.

Why can't I bring more chips to the table?

Rake Structures
Here you can find the rake structures for the poker ring games played at Prime Poker.com. The rake structure is slightly different for Limit games than Pot Limit and No-Limit games. The rake also varies based upon the number of players at the table. The rake structure is based upon the Pot Size (PS) as calculated in Big Blinds (BB) and as such is relative. For example, if the PS is $15 and you are playing at a table with a BB of $5 the Pot size is equivalent to 3 BB. A $30 PS with a $10 BB is also a 3 BB pot. There is also an absolute cap on all rake taken, this cap varies based upon the PS and the number of players at the table. Because of the capping system the maximum amount taken in rake from any Pot is $3. There is no rake taken on a hand where there is no flop dealt. No flop no drop!

Software & Connection Issues: Mac Users
How do I get it to work on a Macintosh using OS9.x?
The software has been tested with Mac OS 9.6 together with Internet Explorer 5.1.7.
(It might also work with earlier versions of Mac OS9 and maybe even some versions of Mac OS8, but that is not guaranteed.)
Two things are required to make it work:
The Macintosh Runtime for Java (MRJ) 2.2.5 needs to be installed on your computer. Do a file search for "MRJ" and see if it turns up. If not, you can download it from Apple.
Your browser needs to be configured to use the MRJ to run Java applets. This is done from the "Java" controls in the "Settings".

I am having problems since I upgraded to OS 10.3.9, what should I do?
We are aware that there are some possible problems for players who are Mac users. The problem arises in relation to the recent upgrades for Mac OS 10.3.9. The bottom line is that because of the Operating system upgrade you will need to upgrade your version of Java. Java is the program that we use to play all the games on Prime Poker. It is also used on many different web sites as well, so an upgrade is likely to help you access content on other sites too.
Click here to find advice provided by Macintosh on how to upgrade your Java.

If you follow the instructions provided by the technicians at Apple or download the upgrade you will be able to access the games at Prime Poker.com again.

If you cannot connect to our game server through our webpage you could be behind a firewall. If you are behind a firewall, then you will have to configure the firewall to allow communications on our ports. Below are all the current ports used by the games at PrimePoker.com

Mac Users | Software & Connection Issues | Top of page
Why does the game say "The server does not respond" when I try to log in from my office?
You are probably sitting behind a "firewall". It's a safety measure that protects your company network from unauthorized access. Among other things, it limits the communication with the outside world to a few standard channels -- and the Prime Poker client-server solution is apparently not on the approved list.
Please try configuring the firewall to accept traffic on our game ports. Please contact us if you need more information.

Software & Connection Issues: Connection Problems
What happens if I'm disconnected in the middle of a hand?
Should your Internet connection break, you will be given a little extra time in which to take your move, if you still cannot reconnect and resume play within the extra time, your cards will stay in the hand as long as your opponent does not raise the pot. Not acting in time while connected will however automatically check/fold your hand. Our system detects if a player has an actual connection problem or if he/she simply isn't acting in time.
Connection Problems | Software & Connection Issues | Top of page
I got disconnected / kicked out. Why?
If you got kicked out, it may mean that your Internet connection to our server broke down for some reason.
Just reload the game in your browser to get back. You should automatically be taken back to your table.
If you get disconnected during a tournament game, you will be put on autopilot. The computer will play for you until you come back. Its playing strategy is simple; check until someone bets, then fold. Just click on the "I'm back" - button to turn off the autopilot.
If you still cannot get back to the games and receive an error message, please note this down and contact Support.
Connection Problems | Software & Connection Issues | Top of page
What should I do if I loose my connection and get kicked out of a tournament?
Try to log back on again as soon as possible. You will still be seated at your table and will be check/folded until you return. It may take a couple of attempts for your Service Provider to get a good connection back through to us but if you keep trying you should be able to get back through.

Software & Connection Issues: Refunds
What happens if you have to cancel a tournament, do I lose my entry fee?
We understand your concerns regarding the potential hazards of playing in a tournament.
You can be assured that we are always fair to players and should a technical issue at our end cause a tournament to be disrupted, we will refund the affected players accordingly as quickly as possible.
Refunds are usually made as soon as we have established that we cannot for technical reasons resume the tournament. This most often means a wait of less than an hour. However sometimes due to the nature of the technical problem encountered it could take a little longer to refund players.
The amount to be refunded will be credited to affected players account automatically. To check that the money has been refunded to you it may be necessary to log out and log back in again. Please also be assured that our developers are constantly looking for ways to prevent tournaments from having to be cancelled.
Refunds | Software & Connection Issues | Top of page
How soon can I expect a refund if a tournament is cancelled?
We will endeavour to make refunds to players as quickly as possible and have systems in place to automatically reimburse players where necessary within an hour of the refund being required. However there are sometimes situations where it can take a little longer to award the refund due to the nature of the problem. We will only refund players if it is determined that the technical fault was the within our control to prevent.

Most poker players understand and accept the highs and lows of the game. In turn, we understand the compelling nature of poker. This is why Prime Poker is a strong advocate of responsible gaming.

As a serious, responsible online gaming provider, Prime Poker is bound to minimise wherever possible problem gambling and any of its associated issues. To ensure we carry out our promise, Prime Poker, in co-operation with G4 has taken concrete measures which empower our players with the ability and tools to manage their gaming activities responsibly.

Responsible Gaming at Prime Poker | Responsible Gaming | Top of page
Why is Prime Poker.com concerned about Responsible Gaming?
If played responsibly, the games we offer do not contribute to causing harm - they are a form of entertainment. Most players approach the games responsibly and play purely for the enjoyment. Unfortunately, it is not every player who can summon up the restraint required to play responsibly. That is why we provide players with features that allow them control their exposure to the games.
We believe it is in the interests of our players, our business and the poker industry in general to work towards the promotion of Responsible Gaming. Irresponsible gaming activity can lead to problems such as debt and can cause harm not only to the players, but their loved ones too.
